A Girly Newborn Photo Shoot | Hemel Hempstead | Madison

When Madison arrived for her Newborn Photo Shoot the first thing I noticed was her amazing hair!

With her mum being a hair dresser, it made those luscious locks even more perfect.

While we were getting to ready to start with family photos, we talked about the risks of getting pee'd and poo'd on when handling a naked baby.   Madison's mum and I were wearing matching white tops (thank you Asda) which are lovely tops for photos but are a little risky around a tiny naked bum.

Reasonably happy that we had pretty good timing in the 'no nappy' department, I set a sleeping Madison into her mums arms for the first set up.  It turns out all our worries were about the wrong end as Madison then proceeded to throw up ALL OVER her mum!

Her mum was a complete trooper, staying perfectly in position throughout, and after a little clean up, we got a selection of gorgeous family images.  Totally worth it in the end don't you think?!

How stunning is this image of Madison in her dad's hands?

It's only been a few weeks since her photo shoot but I can guarantee that she doesn't fit like this any more.

I love creating black and white images of babies in their parent's hands.
To see how I take this picture, check out the video below (it's a little bit of camera trickery!)

Although I generally aim for sleepy babies during photo shoots, I love it when I get some awake photos as well.

Just check out this little compilation of images below.  If this was my baby I would 100% hang these together on the wall in a group.

The shocked looked is my favourite (and her parents loved it to!)

You can just get lost in those gorgeous eyes...

After a little feed, Madison drifted off to sleep and the newborn posing could begin.

I generally start with babies on their side as I find it's a great position for them to drift off into a really deep sleep.  It's also a really good pose to include a a little toy or comforter.
I have a selection to choose from but a lot of people choose to bring their own.
This little bunny belongs to Madison and I hope to photographer her with it again some day so that I can show just how much she has grown.

From her side, I moved her onto her tummy for the 'bum up' pose.  Of course I had to use the bear hat - it's just so adorable!  In this position I can get perfect little photos of details like her nose, lips and those adorable squidgy back rolls!

Ah, I love this headband.  After washing my old favourite one by mistake (!!) I got this one as a replacement and I am more than happy with it.  I love simple headbands rather than large bright flowers that take the focus off of the baby.

Let's finish with my favourite photo from the entire shoot.  I ADORE it!  How comfy and content she looks, the way the blanket is laying over her, the white headband - I just love it!

Here's a little behind the scenes video of me setting up for Madison's Newborn Shoot, including a little modelling cameo from me at the beginning!

Madison's parent's chose this gorgeous 16x24inch Metal to go on their wall as well as a custom rose gold USB of their images.
