Newborn Girl Portraits | Callie
/Callie came for her newborn portraits when she was around 3 weeks old.
When I’m advising people to book their newborn shoot, I always suggest booking it for when they are around 7-10 days. That’s enough time that they may be starting to get the hang of feeding but are still nice and sleepy and I can position them without disturbing them.
Now that isn’t always possible - and that’s fine!
I do photo shoots for babies at all ages. It just means that some babies will be awake for their photos and I’ll get unposed photos instead.
Callie was the perfect mixture of alert and awake and sleepy and posable.
To start, I wrapped her and put her in a crate where still slept soundly. When she was unwrapped she went through a little awake phase and then after a feed, drifted back off to sleep.
I was so happy that despite being a little older than my usual newborns, I was able to get her family some lovely posed photos.
How cute is the photo with her little arm in the air like she wants to ask a question?!
I love it when people bring things from home to include in their newborn portraits. Callie’s mum bought a bunny, which was about the same size as her, a pink flower headband and a pink blanket.
It was lovely to meet you Callie. You really were a little sleeping superstar!
