A few weeks ago, little Dev came to me in Hemel Hempstead from Luton for his newborn photo shoot with his mum, dad and big brother.
He had arrived 4 weeks early, and was so smiley. He also made lots of cute noises, specially after he sneezed and had the most amazing hair!
He was teeny tiny but when he stretched out, my goodness was he long!
Model Calls are free photos shoots, which I offer to people for a whole range of reasons. Sometimes I have new props I want to try or new set ups, and other times I want to work to improve a certain pose.

Looking back through the images, some seem like forever ago and some like yesterday. It’s crazy to think that some of these babies will be turning 1 in a few weeks.

Lifestyle photo shoots are a lovely, natural and unposed alternative to studio newborn photography where the emphasis is on taking relaxed photos of the entire family in your own home.

Newborn Elise came to my house in Hemel Hempstead for her Photo Shoot a few weeks ago and was the perfect little model.
She loved to be wrapped but wasn’t a fan of being on her tummy so I kept her where she was happiest, on her back and her side. Not all newborns like all positions and I never force them into a position that they aren’t happy with (I can tell by the wriggling!)

Model calls are when I ask parents to bring in their newborn baby for a free photo shoot so that I can perfect something before trying it with a paid client.
It might be that I want to practice a certain pose or try out new lighting. In Lottie's case I had a few new creative ideas that I wanted to try.
When I can, I try and photograph babies between 5 & 10 days but if it doesn't work out like that, it's fine. The older the baby the less likely they will want to curl up and sleep but that doesn't mean we still can't get gorgeous photos!

Her mummy knew she was having a c-section so we were actually able to book her shoot in on a certain day and keep it there, which doesn't happen very often when you're working with unpredictable newborns!
With a full tummy and toasty warm room, my run of perfectly sleepy babies continued as she slept from beginning to end without any fuss.

This is my 6th twin photo shoot and it's never any less special!
The twins arrived at 26 weeks and spent around 2 months in hospital before being allowed home. I got to meet them at at around 3 months old, at which point they still hadn't reached their due date!
Charlie was small and Alice even smaller but they were happy and healthy and ready to be photographed.

I was about 7 at the time, while he was 11 and best friends with my brother.
Alas it wasn't meant to be and he is now happily engaged and has just welcomed his second son, Kellen, into the world.
Toby & Jake live with their mum and dad a few doors down from our house. They love saying hello to Jess the dog, showing me whatever new toy they have or just telling me something random about their day.
For the majority of 2017, the big news was that they were about to become big brothers. And they were excited!
